Eating nothing but pizza sounds like the opposite of a fitness plan, but two YouTubers tried it for a week to test a common weight-loss belief. The Buff Dudes spent seven days eating only pizza while trying to stay within a set calorie and macro target. The goal was not to prove pizza is healthy, but to see whether fat loss still comes down to overall calories and protein intake.
What the pizza diet involved
For the challenge, the pair could not eat anything except pizza. That meant no protein shakes, snacks, or other easy ways to boost their macros.
They aimed for 2,700 calories per day, with 200g of protein, 250g of carbohydrates and 100g of fat. They also tried to keep the full week under $200, which made the challenge harder than expected.

Takeaway pizza quickly became expensive and made it difficult to hit their protein goals. Homemade pizza turned out to be the better option, because it gave them more control over ingredients, portions and protein content.
That was one of the main lessons from the experiment. Pizza can be built in very different ways, and the results depend heavily on how it is made.
What they learned
The Buff Dudes concluded that the bigger issue is not always the food itself, but how the food is planned. Staying within a calorie target and getting enough protein mattered more than whether the meal looked like a typical “clean” diet.
That does not mean eating only pizza is a good long-term approach. A balanced diet still needs a wider range of nutrients, and a seven-day YouTube challenge is not the same as a proper nutrition plan.
Still, the experiment does challenge the idea that certain foods automatically ruin progress. For most people, staying consistent matters more than trying to eat perfectly all the time.
What the experiment ultimately highlights is that pizza does not magically become a fitness food, but it does not need to be banned completely either. When calories, protein, and overall diet quality are managed properly, there can still be room for foods people genuinely enjoy.
