IWC has added a new summer-ready colour to the Ingenieur Automatic 35, giving its integrated sports watch one of its most eye-catching looks yet. In its press release, the brand introduced the Ingenieur Automatic 35 with a new “Pool” dial. IWC describes it as a fresh aquatic shade, designed to bring a more playful expression to the Gérald Genta-inspired Ingenieur design.
Bright dial colours are becoming more common again, and IWC is leaning into the trend with its new Pool finish. The shade sits close to the turquoise colour that became hugely popular across luxury sports watches a few years ago, but it works especially well on the Ingenieur’s smaller 35mm case. Matched with the model’s signature grid-patterned dial, it gives the watch a brighter and more relaxed look than the usual black, silver or blue options.
Beyond the new dial colour, the rest of the watch stays true to the existing Ingenieur formula. The stainless steel case measures 35mm across and is paired with an integrated stainless steel bracelet. The bezel is secured by five functional screws, while the caseback has a sapphire display window that shows the automatic movement inside.
Power comes from the IWC Calibre 47110, an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The watch also has a date display, rhodium-plated hands and hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova, and 100 metres of water resistance.
IWC’s latest release also reflects a broader move toward bolder dial colours in the luxury sports watch market. Tudor recently launched its 39mm Black Bay Chrono “Bumblebee” with a bright yellow dial, and the new Pool finish suggests brands are still willing to move beyond safer colours on flagship models.
Unlike the Tudor, IWC takes a more restrained approach. Instead of relying on heavy contrast or a racing-inspired look, it simply uses a brighter dial colour to make the existing design look lighter and more suited to summer.
Buyers will not have to pay extra for the new colour option, either. The Ingenieur Automatic 35 “Pool” is available now from IWC. In the US, it is priced at $11,200, the same as the other stainless steel 35mm versions.
