Mercedes-Maybach has revealed the 2027 GLS680, giving its flagship luxury SUV a more powerful engine and a noticeably bolder design. As stated by Mercedes-Benz, the updated model will reach US dealerships later in 2026.
Power comes from an electrified 4.0-litre biturbo V8 producing 603hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Its 48-volt mild-hybrid system can briefly add another 23hp, helping the large SUV respond more quickly when extra power is needed.
The exterior changes make it easier to separate the Maybach from a regular GLS. Its redesigned grille now has an illuminated surround, while an optional illuminated Mercedes star appears on the bonnet for the first time.
New Digital Light headlamps feature a twin-star design with rose-gold details. Illuminated running boards also extend when the doors open and project a Mercedes-Maybach pattern onto the ground.
Buyers can choose from several new paint finishes, including Dark Petrol and an exclusive two-tone combination of Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic. Inside, the cabin is assembled by two Mercedes-Maybach specialists, with details such as the wood trim and Nappa leather fitted by hand.
Comfort remains the main focus, with multicontour seats gaining a new vibrating massage function. Rear passengers also get two wireless charging pads, while an optional refrigerator and twin 11.6-inch entertainment screens are available.
A Burmester 3D surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos comes as standard, supported by extra acoustic measures designed to keep the cabin quiet. The updated MBUX Superscreen runs on Mercedes-Benz’s latest operating system and includes Maybach-specific displays.
On the road, standard Airmatic suspension works with E-Active Body Control to prepare the vehicle for bumps ahead. A dedicated Maybach driving mode is also included to keep acceleration and body movements as gentle as possible.
Mercedes-Benz has not announced pricing, although the 2027 GLS 680 is expected to start above $200,000 when it reaches US dealerships later in 2026.
