Hyatt is bringing its Hyatt Regency brand to Armenia for the first time, with a new hotel planned for the mountain town of Dilijan.
The project follows a franchise agreement between Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Green Rock LLC. A groundbreaking ceremony officially marked the announcement, with representatives from the Armenian government, Hyatt and Green Rock in attendance.
Hyatt Regency Dilijan is planned as a premium full-service hotel with 205 guestrooms and suites. Dining venues, family entertainment facilities and a purpose-built conference centre will also form part of the property.
Dilijan is around one-and-a-half hours by road from Yerevan and about three-and-a-half hours from Tbilisi. A rooftop helipad is also planned, giving some guests another way to reach the mountain town.
The hotel forms part of Green Rock’s wider plans to develop Dilijan as a year-round tourism and lifestyle destination. Future additions are expected to include community spaces, hospitality education programmes and cultural venues such as a music hall and art park.
The property will sit within a 462,000 sq ft complex that includes restaurants, shops and two cinemas. A 32,000 sq ft wellness centre is also planned, with a spa, fitness facilities and outdoor pool.
Meetings and events will be another major part of the development. The conference centre is expected to accommodate more than 550 people, giving the hotel space for corporate gatherings, weddings and other events.
Hyatt expects the project to create more than 400 jobs across the hotel and its supporting services. Roles will cover areas including food and beverage, wellness, engineering and events.
An opening date has not yet been confirmed, with more details due as construction progresses. Once complete, Hyatt Regency Dilijan could become a major new hospitality address for Armenia’s growing mountain resort scene.
